Dr. Gideon Khaw Keat Ween is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Pantai Hospital Manjung and has been providing specialist ophthalmic care since 2014.

He graduated with the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of the Art of Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO) from the National University of Ireland after completing his undergraduate medical training through the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Penang Medical College.

Following his medical qualification, he pursued specialist training in ophthalmology, obtaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth), London in 2011 and the Master of Ophthalmology from the University of Malaya in 2012. He has been listed on Malaysia’s National Specialist Register (NSR) since 2014.

Prior to joining Pantai Hospital Manjung, Dr. Khaw served at several leading public healthcare institutions, including Penang General Hospital, University of Malaya Medical Centre and Hospital Seri Manjung. During his tenure at Hospital Seri Manjung, he served as Acting Head of the Department of Ophthalmology and Deputy Director of the Clinical Research Centre.

His commitment to clinical excellence has been recognised through numerous academic distinctions, including the Gold Medal in Paediatrics during his undergraduate training and the Crombie Medal for achieving the highest score in the Part I Fellowship Examination of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Khaw has contributed extensively to ophthalmic research, with publications in internationally recognised journals including Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, Cornea, and the International Journal of Ophthalmology. He remains actively involved in continuing medical education as an invited speaker for healthcare professionals and public educational programmes.

Dr. Khaw believes that every patient deserves clear communication, individualised treatment planning, and compassionate care. His practice focuses on delivering evidence-based management while helping patients make informed decisions regarding their eye health.
